JOHNSTONCARMICHAEL ANNOUNCES MERGER WITH DUNCAN YOUNG AND CO
Johnston Carmichael, one of the leading firms of independent Chartered Accountants and business advisors in Scotland, is delighted to announce a merger with the Edinburgh based firm of Duncan Young & Co.
Johnston Carmichael has a network of 10 offices throughout Scotland and has 450 partners and staff. Duncan Young was established in 1989, and has 23 partners and staff based in Edinburgh and Burntisland in Fife.
Three new partners will be joining Johnston Carmichael as a result of the merger being Morris Duncan, Alan Young and Ian Roy. Ian Roy will relocate to join Johnston Carmichael’s office in Perth. Ishrat Sharif, who is Duncan Young’s existing tax director, will join the strong Edinburgh tax team.
Sandy Manson, Chief Executive of Johnston Carmichael said “ We are very excited by the additional potential that this merger will bring to both our Edinburgh and Perth offices, and it is a great opportunity for both our firms. This merger will not only strengthen our existing Edinburgh practice and make it one of the largest offices in our firm but also give us more capability in our Perth office as one of the existing Duncan Young and Co directors will relocate to Perth. We recently moved into a new office in central Edinburgh and we will be able to fully integrate both teams into the one office which is so important in enabling both our teams to work as one unit from the outset”.
Morris Duncan, Managing Director of Duncan Young & Co said “We have been looking at our options to strengthen and broaden the range of services offered to our clients and we believe that we have found the right partner for our staff and our clients in Johnston Carmichael. We really believe there is a good fit between the two firms and that our clients will benefit from the greater breadth of expertise that we are now able to offer particularly in these challenging economic times.”
