Workplace
Johnston Carmichael aim to achieve a balance between work and life. Our people are actively encouraged to get involved in charity and social events at all levels. We choose a firm-wide charity each year and this year our firm charity is Cancer Research UK.
Last year our chosen charity was Macmillan Cancer Support and we were proud to raise £53,301 for this excellent cause.
“Johnston Carmichael have completely exceeded all expectations, over £50,000 is an amazing amount to have raised in just one year. We are extremely grateful to everyone who gave up their time and took on some fantastic challenges to raise money for those living with Cancer. Without companies like this supporting us we would not be able to continue providing support to those who need it.
‘The money raised will be used to support some of the 2 million people in the UK currently living with cancer.”
Elspeth Atkinson, Director of Macmillan in Scotland
Fundraising activities held last year for Macmillan included; Tandem parachute jump; London Marathon (including our CEO, Sandy Manson); Golf Marathon – 3 rounds in one day and Lairig Ghru Walk.
This year sees a focus on health and wellbeing and we have organised various activities and challenges to encourage staff to take little steps in a number of ways to improve their health. These include; Office Walks; Football Tournament and a Golf Challenge.
Throughout our offices our staff also have the opportunity to participate in a number of initiatives including; flexi-time and flexi-leave, childcare vouchers, blood donor days, Comic Relief fundraising, dress down days and team building social events.
“The enthusiasm and energy across the firm has been exceptional.”
Iain Abernethy, Head of CSR
